Domestic Iron

Watch to see how to press Typhoon Transfers using a domestic iron

1. Position Your Design

Place your transfer in the chosen spot, ensuring that you avoid any significant creases. For optimal results, you may want to pre-press the fabric for a few seconds to achieve a completely smooth surface. When working with a standard iron, it's advisable to use heat-resistant tape to keep the transfer in place. You'll gain a better understanding of when to use it as you gain more experience.

You can also acquire a Garment Measurement Set for your upcoming orders, which provides precise placement guidelines for various garment types.

2. Press

Set your iron to the cotton/linen settings (normally the hottest). Make sure the iron has no water inside. Steam will damage the transfer

Press down hard for 20 seconds on each different part of the design

To safeguard your garment from direct contact with the iron, use a teflon sheet or sheet of baking paper. While applying additional heat, pressure, or time won’t harm the transfer itself, it could damage the fabric.

3. Peel after cooling

After pressing, allow your transfer to cool for 15-30 seconds until it’s safe to touch. Peel it off slowly to ensure that every part of your design adheres properly. Pay close attention as you do this to make sure everything sticks well. If any areas of the design are lifting, simply place it back down and reapply heat and pressure.

One of the benefits of using these transfers is that repeated pressing won’t damage them.

4. Final Press

Once the design has been transferred to the garment and the film is removed, cover the design with baking paper or a single layer of t-shirt material, then press for about 15 seconds. This step enhances your product by significantly increasing its durability and softness while minimizing shine. If you prefer a glossy finish, use a teflon sheet for the second and final press instead.
